The chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party is in critical condition after being shot by a man who is now in police custody. Still developing...

My prayers are offered up for the victim and his family of course but I am almost positive that this took place in a gun-free zone.
Perhaps the gunman didn’t see the signs?

Moments before the Democratic headquarters shooting, a man with a gun had threatened workers at the Arkansas State Baptist Convention headquarters seven blocks east. Business manager Dan Jordan says a man with a gun told another manager that he’d just lost his job.
Jordan says the man pointed the gun but didn’t fire. Party director Bruce Sinclair and House Majority Leader Steve Harelson say Gwatney is the victim.

My first sense is it was over a woman, but reading this, I’m thinking the shooter was an ex-employee of Gwatney.

1. This “crime” smacks of a jealous ex going after the Dem chairman because he was involved with (a) his wife, (b) his girlfriend (c) his boyfriend (d) his prized hound.
2. The shooter will be described at first as a crazed “right wing” racist Republican, upset over Obama’s bid for the presidency.
3. The shooter will eventually be identified as a fellow dim, high on substance abuse.
4. Before the shooter's identity is confirmed, there will be a cacophony of calls for gun control.
5. After the shooter's indenity is confirmed, there will be still be calls for gun control.
6. The Democratic chairman will recover—snakes are darned hard to kill.
