He makes perfect sense to me. I don’t support gay marriage but I distrust anyone who makes the issue a priority either way. We have more important things to worry about, and like Miller I see most of them in terms of foreign threats.
I think the Republican party needs to allow for regional differences for example bringing together Western libertarians, southern conservatives, and SOME northeastern moderates like Rudy. On the FEDERAL level we all should organize around certain key issues i.e. strict constructionist judges, lower taxes & smaller government, strong national defense, vigorous federalism and wider protections for religious conscience in the public square (i.e. not forcing Catholic Charities to place babies in gay households). Core issues should be non-negotiable after that we should allow states the widest possible latitude on other issues. Leviathan needs to be stopped and our party needs to reclaim the mantle of opposing leviathan. What does everyone else think?
