Just like so many other things the NYT reports, they are full of it. The Supreme Leader and the Revolutionary Guard control the country.

The Supreme Leader holds power for life unless removed by the Assembly of Experts. He has final say on all domestic, foreign, and security policies for Iran, though he establishes and supervises those policies in consultation with other bodies, including the National Security Council and the Expediency Council. The Leader is the final arbiter on all differences or disputes among the various branches of government, although the Expediency Council is charged with resolving disputes between the Majles and the Guardian Council. The Supreme Leader appoints officials to key positions including the head of judiciary and the 12 members of the Guardian Council (six directly, six indirectly). He has power to remove the president and is commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

We will not allow Iran to control Middle East oil. Simple as that.

Russia and China will have something to say about that and will provide nuclear umbrella

Incorrect. Many experts say one nuke will do it. If I ran Israel I don't take this chance and strike first One nuke destroying Tel Aviv and the Arabs can kill off whatever and whoever remains

I have visited Israel twice. There is no way one atomic bomb will destroy the country. And Israel has over 200 nuclear weapons of its own.

So how come Israel doesn't nuke Hizbollah in S Lebanon and Iran's nuclear program and get it over with?
The correct answer is those 200 nukes are useless
They will be even more useless after Iran has one or two -- Then Israel will be vulnerable to a nuke smuggled into Tel Aviv

Israel doesn't make the kind of existential bets you do. Matter of fact you wouldn't either if you governed Israel
Israel's 200 nukes are good for retaliation after Israel has been destroyed -- The Samson Option
And many of those 200 nukes just might be targeted by the Russians to back up the Iranians

Nuclear umbrella to do what? An Iranian takeover of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq? Be serious.

Incorrect. Many experts say one nuke will do it.,

Source please.

Without those the deep underground nuke facilities can only be marginally damaged.

Shouldn't the damn CIA know EXACTLY how deep those bunkers are? What are we paying them for?

Second point: Don't you suppose Iran has an engineer or mathematician who can calculate the depth at which bunker busters become inefficient, and then build the bunkers deeper than that?

ahmadinejad and Khameini-—>>

In 1979, a 23-year-old Mahmoud Ahmadinejad figured among the core group that prepared the seizure
of the American embassy. According to then-Iranian President Abolhassan Bani-Sadr, Ahmadinejad was not only present in the occupied compound, but served as liaison between the hostage-takers and Ali Khamenei, at the time one of the most important Friday preachers in Tehran. Khamenei himself, today Iran’s Supreme Leader, visited the hostage-takers repeatedly in the compound. Ali-Akbar Rafsanjani, today Iran’s third most important political figure, was in 1980 the chairman of the Parliament and in this capacity he shared responsibility for the prolongation of the hostage crisis.

To force then to lower oil/gas outputs...oil pricing ... and who they sell to

All over the internet. Like I said. If you ran Israel you would never make such a bet yet you think others are dumb enough to or that they can be forced to because Israel hitting Iran's nukes might impinge on your lifestyle. Same as the Euros think. Put it off till a tomorrow that never comes while an enemy grows stronger
