I don't understand why Georgia's takeover of South Ossetia would have been justified though.

I don't know if the south Ossetians can be referred to as terrorists or not.

I am unsure why this fighting and killing is going on.

I don't understand this at all. I don't want to suggest that I know what side is right in this or least wrong, I don't.

Georgia has every right to this area. It is theirs and no person or the U.N. disputes this.

The S. Ossetians have been instigating and goading the Georgians for years, and under normal circumstances, the government would have taken control in 1921, but because the Russians continue to play this game of chess by using the Ossetian pawns as excuses to invade, Georgians cannot bring closure to this mess. You can see what happened when they tried, and it immediately escalated from a roundup of some criminal thugs with Russian guns into a international incident.

All I can do is inform you of the background of this, but really it's more a simple matter of sovereignty. The Georgian government has been prevented from controlling what is a increasingly hostile area in it's own territory. This situation exists for only one purpose and that is to allow Russia to control the State of Georgia by not allowing it to end this. So as a result the country stays i a state of constant agitation and cannot proceed beyond it, no matter how hard it tries or how much help it gets.

You must have a stable political environment to grow and prosper, and Russia simply will not allow this to happen simply because it is not in Russia's interest to have a stable Democracy on it's doorstep..
