The head of Georgia's national security council said Wednesday Russia has sent 50 tanks into the central Georgian city of Gori, despite an agreed-upon ceasefire calling on both sides to retreat to positions they held before fighting began six days ago.

Security council head Alexander Lomaia said that the tanks entered Gori about 9:45 a.m. local time, but there was no independent confirmation of his claim.

My son just joined the Air force. Along with his friends that we have known since they were small children.

Some things are important enough risk everything. For me, one of those things is freedom, not only for myself but for those who seek it and wish to keep it.

Its not that we want anything to happen to those we love, its just that we dont want those we love to live in a world absent of the things that make life worth living. This may only be one small country but it is part of the west and a country of free people. If we let them be eaten by russia, what does that make us? And what about the next small country? and the one after that?

“all us armchair generals may end up defending the home front”

That’s how this great country started. We won’t be sheltered forever here. When football season is over, I need to get my 12 year old to the rifle range.

I don’t think it comes to that for another 1 years or so, but best be prepared.

ruh roh. If Ukraine is pushing back that is a real poke in the eye to Putin. I would expect a severe escalation on that front this winter.

“Sooner or later Georgia’s army will have to make a stand”

Yep that is the script and plan of Russia. The plan worked better in already repressed countries where there was no press to report the provocations by Russia.

If you didn’t have the press the Soviet/Russian propaganda would be that Georgia broke the cease fire lol. Those Ruskies are some evil imperialists, they’ll stop at nothing.

And we promised it as well.

Regardless of how stupid Saakashvili was in the South Ossetian incident, we cannot allow Russia to take over another country. Especially when our President gave his word to the faces of the people of that nation that we would walk with them through their fight for freedom.

The Putin playbook includes murdering journalists. I wouldn’t want to be a journalist in Georgia right now.

“Last night ABC had a story about a captured female terrorist who revealed all shorts of plans.”

Are there transcripts of this? What types of plans?

I thought about that when the Fox reporter was driving right by the Russian armored vehicles. They could turn those press vehilces to shredded metal very quickly.

They want a land route to Iran,,,

Just imagine the spectacle. Russian Armor links up with Iranian Armor some where in Armenia. Would be comparable pshycologically to when the US and Russia meant in Germany. It would signify the end of US influence in the Caucasus. The two would obviously sign a defense pact and Russian Armor would be all over Irans border and near their nuclear joint ventures. The Cossacks, Chechens and Ossetians would be left to mop up the Caucasus.

This may only be one small country but it is part of the west and a country of free people. If we let them be eaten by russia, what does that make us? And what about the next small country? and the one after that?

So there are lots of small, free countries that are not able to defend themselves? Is there no strength in liberty? Condaliza(sp) Rice had some interesting things to say about Russia wanting to be part of the "world community" rather than a rogue nation and what they are doing will have severe consequences. Time will show that.

I have a lot of really bad neighbors and I know that if I respond to some of their behavior in the way that I want I will get my car keyed and my kids abused and my windows shot out. The bible says it is better to cross a bear bereft of her cubs than a fool in his folly. This is the case with my neighbors and it reminds me of Russia in this folly.

So am I afraid of my neighbors or Russia? Not at all. But there are times when you have more to lose than you have to gain by dealing with fools in the way you want to deal with them, or the way they deserve to be dealt with.

They covered it a little on Good Morning America here on the west coast a few minutes ago. She apparently is being called the Female Bin Laden. She had plans to attack major landmarks in the US. And plans to assassinate two ex presidents. Also some chemical and biological WMD was involved.
