While watching the games last night I was constantly echoing the same thing, “there’s NO WAY most of those girls are even close to 16”.
I won’t deny that the Americans, specifically Alicia Sacrmone, didn’t screw up big time, but there was a definate bias in the judging towards China. Americans were hit harder for thier mistakes while China’s were either overlooked or lightly penalized for thiers.
BTW, was it me or did those Chinese girls (most) just totally lack in grace and fluidity in thier routines.
they have the immaturity of their dance moves, because they are so young
just like ice skating, the young ones can make the jumps, but their presentation is not as dazzling (mature) as the older skaters

I noticed that too. They seemed very “mechanical” to me.
“while Chinas were either overlooked or lightly penalized for thiers.”
The first chinese floor routine was embarrassingly terrible.
She was a little kid who was walking around.
Judges are supposed to heavily deduct for unchoreographed steps even at beginning levels of gymnastics.
It is embarrassing to the sport that an olympic level athlete plodded about like that at this level - and even worse that the judges didn’t take the deduction.
