The rumbling sound of Georgian artillery, the armoured personnel carriers and trucks packed with soldiers and the panic etched on the face of fighters returning from the front lines of the battle with the overwhelmingly powerful Russian military. Georgian Soldiers retreating from Gori

Georgian Soldiers retreating from Gori

They were probably the first indicators that this conflict was drawing to a close - well this stage of it anyway.

Through the night while Russian jets pounded their former position the Georgian army retreated towards their capital Tbilisi and far from the disputed border with South Ossetia.

I watched streams of soldiers clogging the main roads from the garrison town of Gori.

They had not been told where they were to go and as they chatted in groups they told me that they had received one single order - retreat.

Of course it had caused panic throughout the country. The rumours spread quickly that the Russians were coming. They weren't, the Russians had bombed the Georgians from the positions that could still fire on the breakaway region of South Ossetia.

I listen to the Great One's show once in awhile, today was one of those days. And he had a perfect solution, I think.

Tell Putin that we are, as of now, offering to supply any quantity, anything required, weapon wise to all countrys in the region. This offer is to any country that thinks Poot and the Bear might be back.

Makes sense to me.

what do we do when the Russians "accidently" down a supply plane, boat or hit an area with our troops? Do we really, really, really get mad and "tell" them to stop? Do we pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and send them to......where?

Got to think this out just a little more.

Dick,
Based upon our response to Iran, I don’t think the killing of our troops will raise the ire of this administration enough to provoke a response. However, if they were to shoot at a drug-runner crossing our southern border, you might see some activity./s

Take care

I'm not CIC, but if I were then there are a couple of options..... all bad.

first put American troops in Georgia as a trip wire as advisors or to help recovery. I'd hate to be out in the front on that bad boy. Cause once again we'll have ROE and the Russian army will let the militias do the dirty work and have our lawyers pin us down. Either way, we look bad.

Second, get the Ukraine, Baltic States, Poland and some of the others to join NATO and ...again, put American troops in the mix to act as a trip wire for our involvement. Better option but still the possibility of having American men die for the Poles, and others....

3rd... do political sanctions, covert warfare with supplies to supporters on all fronts against Russia and it's allies...including Iran, Venezuela . That means the use of force to destabilize Chavez down in Venezuela with a bullet if necessary. This is the best option.

There is NO WAY that we can deploy and influence what is happening in Georgia. If Russia wants to, they can stay. It's all for show anyway and in order to control European oil and money. Also to let all the other little former Soviet countries that they are to toe the line.... or face the same "response to protect Russian citizens".

All out war in the face of our current deployment is not going to happen before the election. This is why adults need to be CIC and not affirmative action, welfare enablers that want bling-bling, cocaine and p#ssy.

Geography makes history in this case. As usual.... The good news for us is bad news for Chavez. Cause his geography is under OUR sphere of influence, and I know from personal experience that it really isn't that hard to "influence" people into the Latin American dictatorship retirement plan through gold or lead.

Plata o plumbo...
