Michael Phelps is 5-for-5 in his quest for eight golds in Beijing. After winning his fourth gold of these Olympics with a first-place showing in the 200 butterfly, his 4x200 freestyle team claims first for his fifth gold and a record 11th gold of his career.
Breaking news headline only
Oh please. Then don’t click on the frickin link, curious George, and then strike out against others.
As the poster said, the results were in the headline.
And they aren’t in the thread below?
This one is for #5.
3 more, baby!
First time I watched it tonight. The swimming event was cool...gymnastics was boring IMO though.
.........or do you mean this thread?
#10 and #11 tonight, #10 broke the record. Oops spoiled it!
How about you show some consideration for people? I don't expect news or sports sites to stay quiet. Nor would I enter a chat room. But FReepers should know better than to put results in the title.
The original headline gave the results, which ruined it for anyone looking at latest articles. This new headline, with the added spoiler alert, lets people who want to know, or who have seen the races discuss it. People who prefer to wait are warned off and don't click the thread.
If the french weren’t pnwned enough at the olympics by US swimmers, Australia’s Thorpedo said before the olympics that their was no way Phelps could win 7 golds.
Yes Spitz was great. But I think that Phelps’ performances are already greater whether he wins 8 golds or not. The level of competition from around the word is much greater today in 2008 than it was in 1972. There are many more countries who are serious about swimming. In 1972 you had the United States and Australia winning almost every event. Today we have tremendous competition from all over the world. The Chinese are very good was well as the South Koreans and the Japanese. Also the countries in Europe are much stronger in swimming than they were in 1972.
I sure hope they don’t find out he’s been doping.
I agree he is an AMAZING and I hope he is successful in winning golds in the rest of his events!
However, someone needs to tell this guy that it is disrespectful to chat/laugh with your teammates when your National Anthem is being played in your honor.
I’m not gonna get too excited about this. That way, I won’t be so disappointed when we eventually find out how he cheated.
I agree. I posted the info from an informational stand point. Not as Spitz’s agent. : )
