The American electorate pretty much goes Republican when it comes time to choose a president. The article states only two Democratic presidents in past 40 years and they didn't win by much. The country really does want to vote Republican. When a decent Republican is found, the Republicans tend to win in landslides (i.e. Reagan in 1980 and 1984).
But Reagan aside, the Republicans do not do a good job delivering a nominee we can enthusiastically get behind. Just look at the clunkers the Republicans have put forth in recent elections...Bob Dole, George HW Bush, Gerald Ford, and now this here John McCain. Now these are all fine people but not great presidential material. Yet by and large, the Republicans find a way to win because the American people want them to.
Isn't it a shame that we cannot find more Ronald Reagan-type people to put on our ticket?
