I don't imagine Russia is too keen on Islamic terrorism within her borders--recall the Beslan massacre from a few years ago. Russia is dying due to internal, centrifugal forces: a loss of land and a loss of people, due to disease, demography, democratic revolutions, and what have you.
However, they are currently in business with both Iran and Syria. I suspect that the Russians might scrap both the Iranians and the Syrians for a better, long-term overall deal from the West. At this point, I think Russia is doing it's best to rebuild and hold on to some sense of dignity and prominence globally. But perhaps that's just me. ;)
