Today was my daughters first day of 1st grade, and yes all the supplies went into the huge hopper before we left.
But I let the teacher know all of my daughters stuff had her name clearly printed on it.
Then the teacher should be charged with inciting robbery since you can prove what is your property.
You can put their names all over it clearly, but eventually even without a huge hopper they’ll lose all their stuff somewhere in that messy desk or backpack never to be seen again :)
This is a growing trend. Schools put out supply lists, and then pool the supplies...
While I can understand that there is a small handful of students who truly don’t have anything (most often because of “parents” who place higher priorities on alcohol, illegal drugs, gambling, tobacco, etc.), the pooling of resources is crazy. How about everyone send their children to school without a single item on the list... Refuse to support everyone else.
Or better yet, how about just not sending your kids to public school.
When did this start.. this communnal dumping of supplies?
Back when I was in grade school (around the late 1970s early 1980s) we never did that? Thats crazy..
