WE don’t have planes based in Europe or other areas close by? WE couldn’t in some way offer up at least some air defenses from Russian planes that have spent a couple of days shooting at and bombing civilians? If we cannot act in a timely matter such as this, then what is the point of basing any of our assets around the world?
It doesn’t work that way, the US can not go head to head with Russia without starting WWIII. Much like Afghanistan, we had to fight them via a proxy war but not head to head.
We aren’t going to directly engage them and risk a large scale military confrontation with Russia. It would be crazy to enter into conflict with them particularly with so many of our forces occupied.
