TBILISI, Georgia Russia opened a second front of fighting in Georgia on Monday, sending armored vehicles beyond two breakaway provinces and seizing a military base and police stations in the country's west, the Georgian government and a Russian official said.

TBILISI, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on Monday that the Russian military has blocked a central highway linking east and west Georgia.
Russia troops entered the main part of Georgia’s territory earlier on Monday, as Russia continued its peace enforcement operation to prevent further Georgian incursions into breakaway South Ossetia.
Saakashvili said in press briefing at the Georgian Security Council: “This evening they [Russian troops] managed to reach the central highway and cut off eastern Georgia from the country’s west.”
He compared the situation to 1921, when Soviet forces entered Georgia.
While the Russkies are devils, they're seldom fools.
Well thats another subject. Why we are helping build up China’s infastructure, in exchange for cheap Walmart spatulas is a mystery to me. But as far as deploying troops, I don’t think China is right now going to side with the Russians. But this is a clear case of a clear American ally (since the 1990s) being invaded. These Georgian’s sent troops to Iraq to help us and we are just sitting there allowing them to be dominated by the Russians.
It’s too late. Russia has control over the majority of the entire country now.
Well, you forget, Texans themselves would not allow it and if push came to shove the country of Mexico wouldn’t stand a chance against Texas even if the federal government never did get involved!!!!!!!!!!!
As uncomfortable as the status quo was it was still the best deal they could get. I guess they thought Russia would be too busy at the Olympics to do anything about them reasserting control over Ossetia.
Ooops, big mistake! You just through the first punch at the bully!! Now hes going to smash your nose (South Ossessia) and then break your arm and foot for good measure.
I think New Mexico is the state most likely to move as a state. The demographic maps of Texas show a big difference between the big-bend and border areas, and the rest of Texas. So I would first expect county-by-county changes that lead to ethnic cleansing in souther Texas.
I think public schools offering instruction in Spanish with English as an elective secong language will be a powerful forcing mechanism to get the "Anglo" minorities to either leave or acclimate to Latino Dimmhi status.
Only if you are 100% because of irerefutable scienctific which allows it to be no other way...that is not the case here.
Only if you are 100% sure of it because of irerefutable scienctific facts which allows it to be no other way...that is not the case here.
The United Nations, European Union, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Council of the European Union, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and all other countries in the world recognize South Ossetia as part of Georgia. However, the de facto independent republic governed by the secessionist government held a second independence referendum on November 12, 2006, after its first referendum in 1992 was not recognized by the international community as valid.
The point here is that the United Nations, European Union, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Council of the European Union, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and all other countries in the world recognize South Ossetia as part of Georgia. Thats what we have to go on.
Russia had zero rights to invade and even at a stretch they should have fended off the attack only. Instead the Russian’s invaded a sovereign country.
He’s still just the President and the 1st amendment hasn’t been canceled yet.
He’s testing europe as well since he controls most of their energy supply.
True, but, it is evident you have an agenda and it is starting to disrupt the thread, is that your intention.
The political arena in Turkey has changed from years ago. The moderate islamists that run Turkey today are not interested in military intervention .... only concerning the PKK in northern Iraq since they intervene in Turkeys internal security affairs. Though Turkish/Russian historical relations are tepid, Russia does not pose a threat at present.
I think Turkey will become a member of the EU simply because of the millions of Turks already work in Europe today.
I can see the headlines.
Chinese Completes Boot Issue to Army. Cows extinct in Asia.
I'm waiting for a "resolution" from the U.N. condemning this, that will show them.
“When the history’s in, he’ll probably go down as Benedict Bush”
The war in Iraq was justified, Ron Paul lost the GOP race fair and square, and Bob Barr stands no chance. You BDSers are no different than the far-left.
