Why do cops wear Masks while serving warrents?
today | Self

Posted on 08/11/2008 7:48:29 AM PDT by Robbin

I saw the local police are angry about the swat team going into the Mayors house. Not only are they Friends of the mayor, the local Police Chief said that if one of his guys had been driving by when 5 heavily armed men in plain clothes and masks were kicking in the Mayor’s front door, they would have been fired on them thinking they were terrorists attacking the mayor’s home.

Besides the shooting of dogs for no reason, which is bad enough, why do they have masks over their faces? Bad guys were masks so they can’t be identified after they rape and kill. How is a home owner suppose to know they are cops? No uniforms and Masks on their faces???? So I’m suppose to take their word for it when they yell “Police Officer” over the sound of gun fire in my house while they kill my dogs?

Now I expect an excuse that only a cop, protecting another cops actions could believe, but there has to be SOME logic behind wearing masks while serving a KNOCK warrant. I mean surly the average citizen would throw open the door to five armed men in plain cloths wearing masks because they said they had a warrant wouldn’t they??? There are a lot of cops on the board, So what is it? Why would cops serving a warrant wear MASKS?

Oops, looks like you struck a never on that one.

I thought a man has a right to face his accusor? Is that only “just” in court? Or does that not apply to the apprehension process.

So much for the Constitution actually meaning what was written on it.

“Institutions and agencies transform from their original intent over time. The meanings that bound them, as well as the government of the US originally, have become so elastic that they might resemble rubber bands. These institutions and agencies will eventually continue to morph into a ‘self-sustaining’ purpose, no matter what they have to do to stay alive.”

Or something to that effect. The question is, does the US government look anything like the 1st Congress of the USA now? Does the BATFE (since when did they add the e?) continue to opperate in the same capacity when it was first the Buero of Alcohol during prohibition?

Since when did police task forces transform them selves into “military” style home invasions to serve warrants, lest we forget the 4th and 5th, and what 7th, Ammendments?

Perhaps they have a good reason for wearing the masks, but 9/10 they don’t have a good reason for their dynamic breeches.

Either one of which would be more proactive than the doughnut munching, revenue generating/ticket writing, clean up crew most police departments have become.

I must confess I'm lost all respect for the profession of law enforcement.

The current environment requires all practitioners of law enforcement to cultivate skill in guile, duplicity, deception, obstruction, opportunism: and conspiracy when the aforementioned traits invariably lead them into making punishable error.

Why would cops serving a warrant wear MASKS?

The same reason any other criminal wears a mask.

What do "libertines" have to do with anything? We're talking about libertarians.

Do try to keep up...

At one point, not so long ago, it was said that the bottom 10% of law enforcement gave the rest a bad name.

I think those proportions have been inverted...

Because 10% are still good folks it should justify the predations of the other 90%...

Anyone coming to my house wearing a mask better hope that it’s Halloween.

Why masks?

To hide the pimples.

There has to be some excuse for wearing masks, I want to know what it is...

There are only two types of people that wear masks and tote machine guns: terrorists and cowards.

To instill fear in their targets.

Intimidation is a powerful tool in the hands of the state.

They don't want to singe their eyebrows when they throw hand grenades into rooms where children are sometimes present.

There is a downside to their policy:

United States Code; U.S. Criminal Code,
Title 18, §ection 241:
Conspiracy against rights

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same;
or
If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

Not at all. Do you actually think asking Police why they wear such masks when raiding a home will end up with them raiding yours?

I realize this isn’t the desired response but it’s how Uncle Sam taught me to respond to threats.

Thank you for your service to our country. Our oath to protect the constitution from its enemies, foreign and domestic, of course includes SWATzi police death squad wannabees among those enemies.
