How long does the order linger? Can it just be ‘washed off’? Could the odor help identify participants who wanted to remain anonymous?

Not unless you bathe in tomato juice. Try getting skunk spray off your dog! A shower won't help much. And the stink just sticks like taffy to the clothes!

I had some really nasty skunk sent back in the 70's. It was a two part mixture. Three drops of each solution would cover a large area. It did not wash off and would take several weeks to wear off the object it was put on.

I can't find it anymore.
