Pray for Peace....this isn’t worth war.
Nobody wants to see us get involved in the Russia/Georgia war.
This points up that we live in a dangerous world, and Russia can still be a trouble maker. I don’t know all the ins and outs of this situation. But, Russia still has a strong military.
At the end of the cold war and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the liberals said we should get a “peace dividend” and that we could spent far less on national defese now that the big threat in the world was gone.
They thought that Russia would naturally evolve into a capitalist parliamentary democracy. But Russia is still a threat in some ways. And it’s not certain that Russia will become a parliamentary democracy. Their elections are suspect. And their form of capitalism resembles mafia style business cartels rather than the free and open market capitalism that we are used to.
Oh really? Georgia is our ally, that has access to the mideast oil through its pipelines, is a democratic ( mostly christian) nation that is near the mideast and russia that we have been working on getting bases there.
and then what next? the Ukraine is not worth a war? Poland not worth it?
yeah, lets just be real real real quiet and maybe Russia will just be nice to Georgia and just play nice.

I am praying for peace. I am really really praying. I pray this is not the start of WW3, or WW4, however people are keeping track nowadays.
I know. My wife and stepson are Russian. They are over there now on vacation. Their family's in Rostov-on-Don, but right now they are vacationing in Tuapse on the Black Sea, about 60 miles from the Georgian border. I'm scared sh1tless, as there's nothing I can do. Prayer is all I have right now.
