Is John Edwards Rielle Hunter's baby daddy? We may never know
LA Times ^ | 8/10/08 | Liz Snead

Saturday, Hunter's lawyer, Robert Gordon, issued a statement saying, “Rielle will not participate in DNA testing or any other invasion of her or her daughter's privacy now or in the future."

JohnedwardssonSo I guess Edwards is pretty much off the hook on that offer to take a paternity test. Is that why he so freely offered to take one?

But Edwards better not make her angry... oh, maybe by not giving her what she wants, forgetting her birthday, not paying enough attention to her, or by not marrying her in a few years...

She could so change her mind. Talk about leverage.

Edward finally 'fessed up to a 2006 affair with the new age spiritualist who believed she could help Edwards change the world. But he insisted that he was not the father of Hunter's 5-month-old daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter.

He also said that he did not pay her or the former Edwards campaign staffer who has publicly said he is the father. The birth certificate lists no name under "father."

In his statement (and in his TV interview with ABC), Edwards said, “I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established.”

"Truly hopeful." Yeah, right. Do we believe him?

What do you think? Is Edwards the father?

To read more about this from Andrew Malcolm, who first wrote about Edwards' affair in October 2007, go to Top of the Ticket.

B.S. ‘we may never know’

Here’s what we do know:

1) John Edwards is a liar.

2) The National Enquirer has more credibility than John Edwards.

3) The National Enquirer has more proof than they have published so far. The editor claims they can prove Edwards is the father.

4) The father’s name is blank on the child’s birth certificate.

5) Being willing to take a paternity test is neither a defense nor proof that he is not the father. John Edwards could have had a paternity test done and made the results public to back up his claim that he is not the father.

6) Hudson is being paid by an Edwards associate.

Lacking a paternity test and given Edwards penchant for lying, Edwards does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. He has to be considered the father until proven otherwise. Edwards confessed to the set of lies that were exposed while simultaneously, he concocted another set of lies that he imagines will protect him. These will be exposed as well.

Two choices. He his or he isn’t. Until DNA evidence is shown, he is. Case closed.

I’m thinking there’s something up with the way the MSM is throwing John Edwards under the bus for this “mistake.” When have they ever thought a democrat was wrong when caught in the act? It’s just sex, blah, blah. So why were they not defending him like they’ve always done for the dems!

At first I thought they were ganging up on him so they could point to him whenever someone said they were biased. But after a while it seemed over the top, especially thinking how they all carried clinton’s water for so long.

Then I heard Geraldo, of all people, ranting on and on about what a despicable jerk John Edwards is - how outraged he was that JE would do something like this to his poor sick wife, his darling children, the democrat party, etc. It just didn’t fit for Geraldo (who has always been proud of, and bragged about, his own womanizing) to be casting stones at anyone else.

Anyway, something just doesn’t feel normal about the way they’re all ganging up on JE. I can see them bringing up something like this against John McCain on election eve - too late to fight it, and John Edwards’ story will still be fresh in the minds of Americans, and probably still news.

What do you think?

I really think it has to do with Elizabeth and her cancer.

I can give the benefit of the doubt to a small minority of the MSM, so that may account for some of it.

But I can’t shake the feeling that they’ll point to this as showing their non-bias when they attack McCain with something similar, rumors from an “unnamed source” or such, and they’ll bring up the smear incident from earlier in the year in order to give substance to the current rumor. And my fear is that it’ll be very close to election day and no time to really fight it.

It’s a shame really. I know so many people who waited until their age (or a little younger) to begin a family and found out they could not. Sad.

I wunner how much it cost him to induce her to opt out of the DNA test.

I'm willing to bet that the bill is still being paid, so the answer is, we don't know yet.
