US, Russian ambassadors spar at UN over Georgia

U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad exchanged sharp remarks with the Russian ambassador on Sunday, accusing Moscow of resisting attempts to make peace with Georgia after days of fighting have left hundreds of civilians dead.

Khalilzad pointedly asked Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin in the U.N. Security Council session whether Russia's aim was to "change the leadership in Georgia" _ a charge Churkin did not directly address but seemed to deny.

The U.S. was preparing a draft resolution that would have the council call for an immediate cease-fire and condemnation of Russia.

We all know how much weight UN resolutions carry.

“Regime change is purely an American invention,”

Ask eastern europe what they think of the Russians making this claim.

The US could tell Russia either they pull back or we'll build some military depots inside Georgia.

I would interpret this to mean the Russians intend to act on the Georgian military and their political leadership in the same fashion they used in the Katyn Forest with the Polish officers.

IMHO, Georgia needs to make sure they are in fellowship with God through faith in Christ and no matter who, what, or how adversarial the situation becomes, they shall remain victorious with eternal rewards. God bless them.

Yeah. The bullets still tear you up, though.

Bullets don’t out-trump God’s hand.

No, but they sure rip mere mortals to pieces.
