If South Ossetia does not want to be part of Georgia, then it is perfectly okay for the Russians to step in and protect their independence.

I may be outside of the normal FR posts here, but this is the kind of freedom we were preaching for other break-away republics from the Soviet Union and Russia.

They have apparently been independent since 1991 and Georgia attacked them first.

I believe the righteous position is to side with the South Ossetian people here against Georgia.

In any event, the world will be a more peaceful place if we just let break-away regions break-away and become independent states. You can’t force people to live together and if they don’t want to, just separate them and things will be fine.

The world is an economically integrated unit now, NOT a politically integrated one.

Ok... Southern California wishes to leave the United States, claim Mexican citizenship, and launch attackes on American forces from within Southern California. Are you okay with that?

Then you are a Soviet loyalist, a Putin apologist, and a troll. And you're on borrowed time here.

Bullies exist, and don't stay separated without some unfriendly persuasion. Are they just oppressed people who want to be left alone, or are they tools of expansionist Russian bullies, bent on recreating the USSR? There's some of both, IMO.
