The original tradition was to have Red as the Challenger/Party, and Blue as the Incumbent/Party.

That is also my understanding. If McCain wins Republicans will remain red. If Obama wins, Republicans will become blue.

Guess again. The liberal media will never identify Marxist Obama with the color “red” (especially if he wins).
