Yep, but you can also tie in the butches to either abuse and/or a dislike/disrespect of their own mom. Didn’t want to be like her. I know from firsthand exposure to it. They wind up rejecting the female role because 1) they don’t relate to mom and 2) they don’t like how mom and dad relate to each other, whether mom and dad get along or not.
I think for the butch ones there may be a hormonal imbalance that helps them believe it’s the right thing to be.
