The late Art Buchwald made the same claim about the movie “Coming to America” (Eddie Murphy). Turns out he was right and sued I think for some pretty big chunk of change.

There are ways to protect oneself in cases such as this (though I don’t care to look them up), and a presidential aide should be intelligent enough to do it. It will be interesting to see how the lawsuit plays out.

According to IMDB.com, Kelsey is not the author of the screenplay. It goes to Jason Richman and Joshua M. Stern.

If he sent two copies to the Library of Congress, with the form and payment, he might have a case. Disney might not have realized it was copyrighted.
