Agree completely. No one gave---or needs to give---our KGB friend any leeway to do anything. He figures a) Bush is almost out and we are tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan; b) the Georgians can't stand up to the Russian military; and c) the world is paying attention to China and the Olympics.

Now, what CAN we do? Not much. Putin is pretty much right.

I believe we can do a lot materially, logistically, and with intel. We can make it clear to the Russians that our intent is to provide such help and do all in our power to help the Georgians bloody the Bears nose and embarass them unless the stop their agression.

But we have to be very serious about it and be very quick in making it happen. Putin is gamblling that we either A) Won't, or B) Can't make it happen quickly enough.

My prayers are that Georgia can hold out and that we will get the help to them.
