Blah blah blah . . . They always trot out the “the American people are tired of the bickering” mantra every time they are getting a can of Whup-Butt opened on them.
The American people accept that bickering is a part of the political process, and they actually are okay with it as long as it is enlightening on the issues and more or less within a reasonable spin as to what the candidate actually stands for.
The reason politicians resort to what some might call “negative ads” is that they work. Fair or not, they work.
The smart politician uses that fact *fairly*, because *fair* “negative ads” work even better than negative ads.
Like humor, which really is only funny if there’s a grain of truth in it, a negative ad that hits home on at least a grain of truth can be very powerful.
As McCain said, there are distinctions to be drawn between the candidates and if someone thinks that’s “negative,” boo hoo.
Exactly.
This hasn’t even begun to get ugly yet. And it might never get ugly.
It might never need to if McCain’s people can keep up the steady drip of good humor and a-ha moments.
What Obambi doesn’t get is that when he refers to McCain’s age, it only helps McCain!
I love it.
The most reliable voting group in America is seasoned citizens, of which there are many these days with boomers reaching retirement. Does Obambi think they enjoy being told McCain is too old to be promoted?
I wish politicians could punch each other for my amusement. I'd love to see that old fart McCain mix it up with that effete ex-crackhead Obama. He'd get all unruly and cantankerous on his skinny ass, beating him silly until he almost gave himself a heart attack.
Here’s the other thing that the Rats haven’t seemed to notice:
Campaigns are run less and less by the candidates and their campaign staff.
ANYONE can put up a vid on YouTube and rip either candidate a new one. And they do. Do the Libs decry that, too?
That was freaking brilliant!
Pass it on!
Man, I couldn’t believe all the snarky stuff packed into that.
“Barack hadn’t been to Iraq in FOREVER . . . “
“Since when did it become okay to bash someone JUST BECAUSE HE’S RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT . . .”
The list goes on.
Rush Limbaugh probably has no clue who this guy is (the “Leave Britney Alone” guy), so he may not realize the full cultural significance of this video.
But I sure hope he talks about it on his show and links to it on his website.
That was hilarious!
So pass it on.
Excuse me, Mr. Broder. The ‘08 presidential campaign started in earnest right about the time they wrapped up the morning-after coverage of the ‘06 mid-term elections, and it’s been going pretty much continuously for the year and three-quarters since. What exactly do you mean, “soon”?
Also, it is anything that compels his followers to think, a painful intrusion; to be avoided by liberals at all cost lest their eyes be opened.
They believe the glare from the sudden light could be damaging, if not fatal.
However, none of them have actually seen the light, so it's a matter of primitive fears becoming myths and fables, passed on as truth from one ignorant generation to another.
