Ernie is not a Democrat. In Nebraska, there is no partisan affiliation for members of the unicameral legislature. When Ernie did run for office outside of the legislature, he ran as a member of the neo-Communist New Alliance Party. Ernie has stated he has no use for Democrats, nevermind Republicans.
