Also not mentioned is they do not burn out as quickly as incandescent lights.

From a purely anecdotal outlook I call bs (lowercase).

I've bought a total of three of these types of light bulbs.
Two burned out within a month.

My anecdote is that I have not had to buy a replacement bulb, in my 2100 sq ft house in more than 2 years.

That has been my experience also. They burn out almost as quick and cost me more.

If you use them where you’re turning the lights on and off all the time, they will burn out quickly. They don’t do well in garage door openers either- I think it’s the vibration.

The engineered rated life is 5 times that of a long life incandescent.

Looks like you got a bad pack of bulbs (made in china?)

My expeience has been good.

My kitchen alone has 28 ceiling can lights so the cumlative savings effect is incredible.

I had trouble with a few in the past - "Lights of America" brand, which were made in China or worse. Pure junk. They didn't last 6 months.

However, the GE and Phillips brand CF lights I've bought are lasting quite a while. I had one old GE (one of the early ones from the 1980's) that lasted about 20 years, and it was used regularly as my night light.

I had one of the bulbs (not the fixture) start to spark, sizzle, and catch fire (fortunately I was in the room). Later we found out a friend of ours had the same thing happen. I have never had an incandescent bulb (the bulb itself, not something near it) catch fire.
