About 30 years ago Arnaud de Borchgrave wrote a paperback novel called “The Spike”. It followed a fictitious reporter who was submitting stories to his editor for publication. Whenever a story went against the opinion of the editors, no matter how factual and important, it was “spiked”. It wasn’t so much that they would publish known falsehoods but rather that they didn’t publish those opposed to their thinking.

It’s nice to know all those editors are on the same page regarding what to spike...
