Some of the worst puns ever came out of the Tom Swift books. While I LOVE the OZ books, the Tom Swift books were fun.

If they were before your time, the Tom Swift books gave rise to a form of speech called “Tom Swiftlys”. An example of a Tom Swiftly would be one that goes something like this: “Quick! Close that door,” Tom said rapidly. It’s not a good example, but you get the idea.
