Sounds good to me, the more I read about him the better I like him.
Why not Mike Pense if you are going to look at House members?
The article referred to him as “conservative” but didn’t include any substance as to what positions Cantor has taken that demonstrate his conservatism.
After reading the entire article on the WSJ website, my next question is: WHO IS ERIC CANTOR?
I just asked a simialr question...is Pence being vetted at all?
Do some research... He’s very conservative...and Jewish...A young, Jewish conservative. Strange days indeed.
Same here, I liked the thought of Bobby Jindal, but Cantor has a nice resume as well.
I’d prefer a young VP pick, I think Conservatism needs the VP pick to be a younger guy.
There are threads that do. Something like 97% approval from the various rating groups.
There are specific threads that list all this. Just search keyword “Cantor.”
pro-life, secure border, fiscal conservative, running the revolt about offshore drilling, strong on national defense, Chairman of the Anti-Terrorism Committee, etc.
One piece of research that I sometimes do is to read the entire article. In an article that includes a statement such as "For many voters, their first question may be: Who is Eric Cantor", I would expect the article itself to give a bit of an answer to the question. It didn't. I'm glad to hear your endorsement that he's very conservative. I saw from the article that he is Jewish, but that doesn't really tell me much about his conservatism.
As for doing research on him, I'll wait to research these people until after a decision is made since all the research I could possibly do will have absolutely ZERO impact on the selection. If McCain surprises me and calls me up to ask my opinion regarding his running mate, then I'll do some research in order to give him a more informed opinion. If you would care to offer up further information to substantiate his conservative credentials, feel free to do so. I'll probably even read it.
I like how he has done the revolt bit. To be blunt the lack of “balls” in the RNC has been the key to failure...
Thanks for the info on Cantor. That is good to know. It would have been nice if the author of the article had bothered to include some substance in this story.
It would be very McCain to pick an unknown, and if he can pretend that the pick might help win a close state, so much the better. Not sure how much a congressmen might help in a state since congressmen are so seldom picked.
What do you think of this rep from your state? Do you think he’s a good potential VP choice? Wouldn’t it make a certain poster’s head explode if a couple of “religionists” like us were to enthusiastically support a Jewish VP choice? (are some people so dense that I need a /sarcasm tag for that comment?)
