“I recognize that sound,” McCain said as dozens of bikers revved their engines as he walked on stage in a sustained growl of approval. “It’s the sound of freedom.”

Overall, a good day for McCain.

There was some snark from LA Times but that was even mixed with grudging respect. My feeling is alot of guys on bikes appreciate the respect that McCain showed them in a forum where he could.

This was not a last minute thing but had been in the planning for 4 months.

Bikers are much more conservative voters than most might think. Yes we like to have a good time but don’t really like being told what to do like the nanny state democrats want us to do. I just about bet that nearly 1/2 in that crowd were vets.
