"If Jimmy Carter had actually managed to sell us on energy conservation 30 years ago, we would be in a lot better shape than we are right now."

In those 30 years, no one has ever stopped liberals from conserving energy or investing in alternate sources. They'd rather whine or force the gubmint (taxpayers) than do something themselves.

If Bill Clinton hadn't vetoed the drilling 10 years ago, we'd be in even better shape right now.

So let's see, here's an “economist” chastising a public company for not promoting a competitor's product (wind energy for example). I wonder if he bashes Waffle House for not promoting pancakes.

the reason to hate Exxon is not that it makes so much money, per se, it's the fact that it has not done anything to address the energy problem,

The government has made more money off oil than Exxon in the way of taxes. What has government done to solve the problem other than make it worse?

Krugman: "Now, whether, you know, Bush is responsible for high oil prices, I don't think you can make that case. But we should remember that he promised, he said back in 2000, that he had, he knew what to do. He would be able to talk OPEC into opening the spigots and, you know, they haven't managed to do that, so this is a failed energy policy, for sure." Krugman also argued that the increased drilling would have an "insignificant effect on the price."

So drilling in ANWR, California, and Florida won't lower the price of oil, but drilling in Saudi Arabia would have?

The way to get OPEC to open the spigots is to drill here drill now. We drilled in the early 80’s till the spigots opened and the bottom fell out of the price of oil. It can happen again

Neither Krugman nor Olbermann have a clue about what is required to create a valuable commodity from an inert resource. Neither one could produce so much as a fart after a Boston Baked Bean dinner and yet they are treated as media celebrities. Perhaps there is a market for stupidity and ignorance, but I’m not buying.

Will talking to people like these, debating them, providing facts to counter their assertions, ever make the slightest bit of difference?

I don’t intend to talk TO fools like Krugman or Oberlman. I intend to talk OVER and AROUND them.

I know Paul Krugman. Paul Krugman sold out to become a rock star and be adored in the Boston/New York corridor.

Hey, its better than being a truthful economist. He gets invited to swank liberal cocktail parties, receive grants from liberal thinktanks, etc, etc.

If he was a conservative and told the TRUTH ABOUT BAD OBAMA ECONOMICS, he would be shunned and be just another Princeton economist in a small house and eating at Burger King.

Which would you choose?

I chose the small house and fighting for my beliefs. Krugman chose caviar, adulation and big $$$.

wow at least cnn included these facts in the story...

http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/31/news/companies/exxon_profits/?postversion=2008073110

In addition to making hefty profits, Exxon also had a hefty tax bill. Worldwide, the company paid $10.5 billion in income taxes in the second quarter, $9.5 billion in sales taxes, and over $12 billion in what it called “other taxes.”

I saw this piece of merde in Whole Foods last week. Of course, he drove there with a petrol-powered vehicle that he drove down route one to get to WF like the rest of us.

I’ve seen Paul in my area from time to time, most recently at Whole Foods on Route 1 (see previous post). Have never spoken to him, nor do I really want to.

And you’ll notice that these two leftists do not mention that ExxonMobil paid $32 BILLION in the same period to the government in taxes.

In other words, he hates them because their politics does not match his. This is the intolerant left at its worst.

Herr Olbermeister is as unwatchable as Hissy-fit matthews.

It’s as if the PMSNBC brainiacs chose the absolute two stupidest imbeciles anyone could find, with the emotional maturity of a 3 year old, AND that find it’s easier to lie through their teeth than they breathe.

Maybe that’s the whole idea though, parading such an accomplishment to the world, if you think about it, a difficult feat to be sure! Not just one freak of nature, but they have TWO!

Ummmmm gas prices were very tolerable for 6-7 years under Bush, it’s only been since the hypocrats took control of congress under Pelosi that it’s been off the charts Olbermeister.

But then again the 3 people in the whole country that watch you could care less of any facts. That’s the way BDS works...

They’re blaming Exxon for a problem they basically created. Liberals are the ones who don’t want drilling and don’t want new oil refining capacity.
