A Utah entrepreneur who has waged a public campaign to assist teens who fled or were kicked out of a polygamous sect was an abusive father and husband who abandoned some of his own children, according to affidavits submitted Thursday to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The allegations against Dan Fischer, founder of South Jordan-based Ultradent Products Inc., are detailed in sworn statements from a former wife, three children, three siblings and others familiar with his family.
Fischer testified before the committee July 24 in a hearing requested by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who is pushing for a federal investigation of the FLDS.
The 14 affidavits were submitted by Rod Parker, a Salt Lake City lawyer and spokesman for the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Six affidavits also were posted Thursday on an FLDS Web site, truthwillprevail.org.

Same thing as the alleged hoax phone caller.
Every single person calling for due process acted as judge, jury, and executioner for her and had her guilty until proved innocent; like her guilt was written in stone.
They still do last I knew.
Takes one to know one. (You asked for that.)
I haven't heard that since the 5th grade. LOL
Not only was it a childish remark. It was addressed to a woman.
Even little kids don't call a female a "dirty old man".
I have to admit, Saundra....
I’m jealous of the energy level you can maintain to be so hysterical all the time. What I couldn’t get done around the house with that kind of energy.
Matt 5:22 - But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.
I still don't understand how a mother would allow her teenage daughter to be given to a man . Nor do I understand (& I never will either) how parents can toss away their sons, their own flesh & blood away because somebody like Warren Jeffs tells them too! What on earth is wrong with these people????
I don’t know. My son is 18 and heading off to college, but it’s his choice. He’ll be back on and off but I know I’ll be missing him.
He’s perfectly capable of taking care of himself at this age, but no way could I EVER have kicked him out on the streets 5 years ago, never to see him again, thinking that now that he’s not with the cult, he’s going to hell.
What kind of brain damage is this cult doing to these women to give them the strength to deny their maternal instincts like that?
You obviously haven’t bothered to look at my FR page if you think I’m either old or male. As for the “Takes one to know one”, grow up!
“the terrorized children would not have been returned to their mothers.”
But the CPS was successful in not returning them to their husbands.
I was just looking at some of your recipes, they look delicious! Do you have a recipe for Korean Spinach?
This is not my recipe, but it is authentic and classic. Don't use baby spinach (I made that mistake a couple of times).
The author of the book is not ex FLDS.
The above is from YOUR campaign in 2000, Saundra...Women's Issues By Saundra Duffy
Let's take a closer look at it in light of your consistent defense of the FLDS cult:
"If men and women would accept responsibility for their own bodies and behavior, there would be no need for abortion"..."The clinics which treat women like cattle are a disgrace".......SO....the women in the FLDS allowing themselves and their daughters to be used as breeding cattle by the FLDS men is RESPONSIBLE? Let them all go back to continue their "responsible" parenting? Let the men of the cult continue to rape underaged girls in the name of FREEDOM? Texas was WRONG in taking those children out of harm's way?
"Young girls need parental support when faced with an unwanted pregnancy. Stop exploiting women and talking down to us."....Oh, I just LOVE that statement in light of your stance on the poor, poor FLDS cult members..."Where is your compassion for "young girls and pregnancy" NOW! Just make the state get those young girls back with their "responsible" parents, right now has been your mantra all during this!!
"If women really had a choice, we'd choose life for our babies.
WHAT choice are you insisting on for the young girls who have been impregnated for decades by the FLDS men, Saundra? Tell us how you REALLY feel about the many, many tiny graves in the Carling or Babyland cemeteries. Abuses in Polygamous Sects
Send them back into the same situation to be used and abused from now on? Allow the men to escape trial and prison to satisfy YOUR interpretation of the Constitution and the rights of these perverts?
Well, you obviously didn't win your race for US Representative....thank GOD! I have a daughter-in-law and young granddaughters in California. They certainly don't need the likes of you "speaking" for THEIR rights!
What is the TRUE reason for your defense of this cult, Saundra? Inquiring minds want to know why the big turnaround in your thinking.
Thank you for a great post!

The Success has learned that William Sunderland Jessop, 29, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, of unknown causes at the YFZ Ranch. The official cause of death has not been released pending an autopsy but, authorities say they do not suspect foul play. Jessop was the son of YFZ overseer Merril F. Jessop. He is believed to be survived by two wives and at least six children, as well as his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

If anyone can find out the why when and how, its Alice!
What did that post mean?
Sandra, most of us here don’t make decisions on what we think is right or wrong based on what any politician thinks. If old Harry agrees with me on something, then it’s because occasionally maybe he’s right. Are you suggesting that we base our opinions on someone else thinks? If Harry Reid is pro-life do I then need to become pro-abortion? Surely you don’t mean that (but it sounds like you do).

One of Fischer's ex-wives, some of his children, and family friends wrote affidavits that were sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee claiming Fischer was abusive. The affidavits were submitted Thursday by Rod Parker, a Salt Lake attorney acting as a spokesman for the FLDS Church. They were included in a packet outlining the church's clarified policy on marriage and a letter from Parker chastising the committee for not soliciting FLDS testimony.
However, they may be too late to be included in the printed hearing record. That deadline was Wednesday, according to Erica Chabot, a spokeswoman for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
I wonder why they'd submit the affidavits AFTER the deadline. Could it be that the don't want them to be included in the hearing record? Could it be just another flds publicity stunt?
Thank you! I’m heading out to the grocery store right now. I wonder how it’ll go with the Boston Butt I’m making tonight.
While, like you, I cannot imagine anyone I know doing this, however, think about all of the mothers who encourage their kids to do things that would be unthinkable to us. When one believes that it is god telling them to do so, and they have been brainwashed since birth to believe it, it takes a strong minded person to reject it.
