Would his injuries get infected that fast?
While most folks wouldn't think so, I've found that infections are both more prevalent, and more rapid in an arid/semiarid climate, for some odd reason. It is possible that he got a rapid infection in his injuries, which I do hope are serious...

If he took some shrapnel to the abdomen and perforated his gut, he has about 24 hours before a severe infection sets in that is often fatal. The gut is inherently “dirty” and has LOTS of bacteria. The treatment is surgery asap followed by massive antibiotics, and even this doesn’t do the job in a high number of cases. Better known as a “gut shot”...
That thought crossed my mind too but - two things: It's way over 100 degrees there and about as unsanitary as it gets.
He may have been injured in a previous 'door yard call" a few weeks ago when he was the prime target, and he's just not healing well.
Whatever and whichever, may this be true and that the next news will be even better.
It all depends on the severity of the injuries of course if this report this true and I greatly hope it is. Please remember that terrorists who got injured are most likely to die if the injury is in a critical part of the body because they do not have access to any advanced or even moderate medical care. I think they may survive minor injuries and injuries to arms and legs but most other injuries will most likely lead to their death.
