Good ole Thurman Munson. My fave was Graig Nettles. Loved his glove and that big lefty pull swing. That was back when you could bat .240 and be the starting 3rd baseman for the Yanks. The pre-steroid, juiced ball, expansion team, small park jokey era. Thurm behind the plate with no helmet, just a cap backwards. Big sideburns everywhere ya looked. Great team. Great memories.
Don't forget the great Catfish. Everytime he was giving a speech he always said “I want to that Mr. Steinbrenner for paying me”. LOL

Gee when you look up the word moxie, you get the 77 team picutre.
Looking at video of games back then, the players, even the power hitters look like toothpicks. This before the age of weights and certainly other enhancers.
Gator though was my favorite. A guy all of 160 pounds throwing heat past everybody. And boy did he have style on the mound. Just watching him bound around after a strikeout.
Ron Guidry was a big part of that team. What greater glory. I know none. And I’m saying that as a Met fan.
