Senator Barack Obama has will.i.am (and, wanted or not, Ludacris). Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton had Merle Haggard. Even Representative Ron Paul has this girl. Now, Senator John McCain has his own theme song by a music star. “Raising McCain,” which focuses on the presumptive Republican nominee’s years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, will be performed tonight by its composer, John Rich, half of the country duo Big & Rich, tonight at the Country First Concert in Panama City Beach, Fla. (Mr. McCain plans to “stop by.”)

As I blogged earlier this month, the girls and I had an amazing time exploring Nashville. It has quickly become one of my favorite cities – the music, culture and nightlife – everyone should visit! Shannon has put together a stellar video of our time here, complete with footage of my dad’s town hall meeting at historic Ryman Auditorium where John Rich of “Big & Rich” performed, and featuring some scenes from our cowboy hat shopping expedition. John Rich is a wonderful person. And he sings and writes well, too. He is kind, down to earth, friendly to his audience. Can't say enough good about the young man.

I was there and heard the song. It is really good. Senator McCain made a short speech. Mrs. McCain and Gov. Crist accompanied him.

Security was really tight. There was a large crowd and the skies were overcast or we wouldn’t have been able to sit out at the marina for two hours.
