It's not like CSpan gets to do what it wants.
This has been a hard thread to follow while trying to get work done!
My memory, such as it is, was at the time C-Span and the House agreed to live coverage, back in the 80s, that the cameras were to go off with the lights. IIRC, early on several then-backbenchers like Newt took advantage of the daily end of business but lights & cameras on to go before the C-Span cameras to make their case on a variety of issues. Those speeches got more coverage than those during regular hours!
What I am enjoying so much about today (beyond the GOP actually showing some backbone)is the payback for the Dem Senate’s staying in session over Christmas to avoid any recess appointments by President Bush. It’s a great day!
