I prefer the crossdraw because it allows me access to my pistol anywhere, anytime. I cover it up with a vest that's zipped up a few inches. In the winter, I zip up my coat a few inches. This way I can easily access my pistol while keeping it concealed. Strong side and SOB carry make it harder to access in certain situations, like driving a car or sitting down. As for feeling unbalanced, it's never been an issue with me. A Glock 23 is light enough to be barely felt. My XD-45 is a lot heavier, but I balance it out with two fully loaded 13 round mags on the opposite side.
My problem is that in South Texas, wearing a vest is practically screaming, “I’m armed!” - ‘specially when you’re a hot-body like I am. I can get away with a t-shirt and guayabera or other button-up that I just leave unbuttoned and untucked.
