Actually he seems to have attended a Baptist Church; see this CBC article. More and more he sounds like a clone of Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech shooter.

It was an easy assumption to make prior to the release of the killer’s name.
And as it turns out - a wrong assumption.

When an article from Canada describes a beheading with a knife, and then fails to describe the killer - it is an understandable mistake when people might think Islam is a factor.
