John, I think you are right, and this is the best theory to date that I have seen.
What do you think he did for a driver’s license, or social security card, or even a passport?
In fact, he was old enough to need a passport at the age of 6 when leaving, and 10 when returning. how do you think those documents changed to Obama from Soetero? In Fla. a legal name change is public record. Is it public record in Hawaii? In Illinois?
If I’m right, the birth certificate issued and used to support the passport application would have been in the name of “Barry Soetoro”, and this would have been the name on his passport.
Is there any way this could be checked?

Birth certificates are not required for SS cards. Our sons are 40 and 41, and we got their SS cards after their births by just applying for them. Same with our grandkids 9 and 7.
Before 9/11, the name on your driver’s license didn’t have to match the names on your COLB. My wife and her two brothers didn’t like their first names and used their middle names for driver’s licenses in Illinois and for my wife in Illinois and California.
After 9/11 that common practice came to a screeching halt when it came time to renew the driver’s licenses. The names had to match their COLB and SS numbers. It took my wife about 2 months to get everything straightened up for her driver’s license renewal and eventually her new passport.
Passports before 9/11 were similiar to the driver’s license mess and that has changed. We needed new passports last summer, and my renewal flew through. My wife had to use the names on her COLB, new Ca driver’s license and SS #. Her pass port took about 3-4 weeks longer to get.
Even in the military unless you were cleared for Top Secret, these name messes didn’t seem to matter. Top secret clearance vettings apparently opened any sealed files on those being vetted. ASA Vet may comment about this.
Obamination’s Passort if issued after 9/11 would be very interesting as well as his Illinois Driver’s license if he has one. The Passport situation is probably why the State department’s Passport area was broken into by a company that donated to the Obamination.
