I see very little reason whatsoever to use military tactics to raid a house and kill dogs. Ever. Especially when you can surround and knock with a valid search warrant. This was a classic case of unrestrained militarization of our police forces causing unnecessary damage to property and life. It must be stopped.

i'm not saying you are wrong. modern police agencies have firmly grabbed onto the element of surprise as paramount to ensuring officer safety.

exposing yourself and allowing for an ambush or the arming of your suspects are things cops want to avoid. so they use these tactics.

i do not think all raids are the same. a crackhouse in a maze of apartments in the projects is one thing. a single house in the suburbs would seem to be another. perhaps they should not be handled in the same way. but they usually are.
