She helped shove through the smoker ban in her state-as far as I’m concerned, no bar or restaurant in the state should serve the beyotch.

A few years ago,my kid sister (who,we'll say,is well into her 40’s) was carded at a restaurant near Baltimore. She was ecstatic...thanking the waitress profusely and promising a huge tip.We still joke about it.

One thing is certain.
Neither the owner of the bar, or this Chris Gregoire were born yesterday.
What's the odds that the bar owner will be paid a visit by the ABC very shortly?

A few years back, I was at The Meadowlands in NJ for a hockey game and got carded while buying a beer. At the time, I was just shy of 50 years old, with a head full of gray hair. I was kidding about it with the beer vendor, and he said that to prevent any cries of “discrimination,” they just card everyone. Apparently, the screeners at the airport follow a similar template—wouldn’t want anybody being profiled!

I'm 52 with hair that is almost white in front. It got me a senior coffee at McDonald's once. I tried to tell them they gave it to me in error, but they gave it to me anyway.

"Don't you know who I am?!"I am surprised that she took it gracefully. I would have that Gov. Gregoire would come unglued if not immediately recognized and sufficiently bowed to.
We used to have a City Council member who routinely raked new bank tellers over the coals if they dared to ask her for ID. (Do you know all of your city council members on sight? Did you when you were twenty?)
The mayor, OTOH, was always polite at similar requests.

It got me a senior coffee at McDonald's once. Not being a consumer of McDonald's fare, I'm curios as to what a "senior coffee" is. Does it come with a "child proof top" or is the temperature lukewarm to protect from burns when dumped in the lap?

My mother used to carry a fake ID. It showed her as being over 65 when she was a few years younger. That way she got the senior rate at the ski resorts.

When I was in college many years ago at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana, we’d have a Moms’ Day once a year when our moms would come and spend a weekend at the fraternity and sorority houses. Naturally, this would involve one or more trips to campus bistros for beer. The moms were really flattered when the bar tenders carded them.

The local media (KING5 TV) ran a gushing report on this the other day. It was nauseating free political advertising for the governor who is in the midst of a very close re-election campaign. It was very clearly made to make her appear more human and friendly and “just one of us”. She is most appropriately referred to as Queen Christine around this state, so this kind of free advertising is priceless for her.
