Is there a way to reverse the text color to white or yellow, so it will stand out against the red backdrop?

I think it would be better to give increase figures in percent per year.
From Jan 2001 to Jan 2007, gas rose at an annual rate of 7.7% per year. From Jan 2007 to July 2008 (assuming 18 months) the annual rate of growth is 44% per year. Not quite so dramatic a figure as 74%, but 5.75 times as fast as previously.
