Speaking just days before a deadline set by world powers for Iran to reply to proposals to curb its nuclear ambitions, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the countrys supreme leader, said on Wednesday that Iran would continue with its path of nuclear work, which includes the enrichment of uranium.
Ayatollah Khameneis comments suggest Iran may be preparing to take a hard line on the demands by six nations United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany that it stop enriching uranium ahead of a deadline set to expire this weekend. His comments were quoted by state radio, according to news agency reports from Tehran.

I wonder if Benedict and the Vatican have kicked off their nuclear program yet.
I wonder if we have a path regarding Iran that we can continue?
Deadline.....or else what? None of this has any teeth.
Iran need to be told flat out. You will stop enriching uranium on August 1, 2008. Else you die. Your facilities will be destroyed and you personally will be captured or killed, preferably captured and then killed. This deadline is not negotiable, and is absolute. With the timing of military action to be at our convienience....and kill them and explode their facilities the day before the deadline.
>>I wonder if we have a path regarding Iran that we can continue? <<
Yes we do. When it comes to Iran, the West, including Israel, have a time-honored tradition of following the path of appeasement and declaring victory as we did with the N. Koreans while kicking the can down the road to another administration that will continue said time-honored tradition.
Why should Iran, the NorKors, the Palis or anyone else change their ways in light of such policies?
Do islamic leaders care that much about generating electricity that they have to make statements about it? /s
Your negotiations are not f***ing working.
Don't you get it? You cannot reason with religious fanatics!

I may be wrong about this, but I feel strongly that BUSH will not leave office without resolving this issue one way or another...He will not allow a nuclear Iran on his watch, esp if Obama wins...
Bush is lookin for a legacy, and tanking the economy with a huge oil price spike is not in that plan.
My guess, Bush punts this one.
