I suspect that Stevens’ indictment has more to do with Democrats in the U.S. Attorney’s office using their position for political purposes than it does with Stevens’ corruption. Consider that his indictment comes down three months before he’s up for re-election.

If that’s true they’re being aided and abetted by the Bush administration’s Justice Department. A Bush appointee as Acting Deputy Attorney General held the press conference yesterday and he gloated about the great work done by the FBI and the federal prosecuters in bringing the indictments against Senator Stevens. Its a clear case of eating their own.
