$15,000 a month means his wife HAD to know about it. She might have been born at night, but it wasn’t last night. $15k a month is not pocket change.

I disagree. She was being paid by Silky Pony’s friend, not Silky Pony himself.

Not necessarily. If it came from him having her on the campaign payroll as "consultant", the wife would not have seen it. But if he paid her from out of campaign or other non-personal funds, he might have problems from people beyond just his wife (then again, maybe not. Dem politicians don't generally get prosecuted for things like regular people do)

The Edwards' are worth 30 million dollars. Source

Therefore, $15K / month is a drop in the bucket. I doubt she noticed, especially if he handles the finances.

Not really since if Edwards is worth 70 or 80 million, that's a drop and could very easily be disguised among thousands of investments...

$15000.00 a month is change to this guy. Look up his net worth.

You know what though..... How about the pajamahadim looking into possible IRS violation. Gifts over $10000.00 per year.... or if the mistress paid taxes on the hush money.

That's where I get my giggles. Cause I will bet that the $15000.00 isn't placed under the category KEEPING YOUR MOUTH SHUT on her 941 form or quarterly tax statement. Did she pay Social Security and Medicare taxes on that $15,000? Did Senator Edwards pay taxes on her behalf and as an employee, a self-employed subcontractor or independent contractor?

Spread this around and find out if any Freepers with the IRS can help spread this around. Who pays taxes on hush money? If it involves crossing state lines and using the post office, are there federal implications involved?

Ahhh... this is just too funny!!!

Not necessarily. He is worth millions and he probably has lots of large monthly bills paid automatically by an accountant. The payments may be to a sole proprietor business account which she controls.

"The money is being funneled to Hunter by a wealthy colleague who was closely tied to the Edwards’ campaign. This same man is also shoveling cash to Edwards’ pal and former aide Andrew Young..."

You don't think he's actually been taking it out of the household funds, do you?

Why use someone "closely tied to the Edwards' campaign?" Pretty obvious answer, I think.

(Besides, in a financial situation like the Edwards', the wife is to simply enjoy the mansion; not balance the checkbook.)

$15,000 a month? That’s Gore’s electric bill. Edwards spends that much on pedicures.

it is to them. He is extremely wealthy, and depending on how household finances are set up, he could very well have accounts she does not have access to.

i should clarify, in any event, that I think his wife has to have known about this as well. It isn’t a sustainable deception.
