weblink? sure. www,energysolutions.com. or www.nukem.com. or google NUHIC136.
So you think you know where radioactivity belongs? Does it belong in Grand Central Station? Your basement (radon)? Your cigarettes? Bananas? ALL FOOD you eat has C-14. Does that belong there? No? Perhaps you need to have Congress ban it.
Just a suggestion. Take a look at the table of radio-isotopes. The earth is not ‘pristine’. It is NOT free of radiation nor contamination. we are, as organisms, bathed EVERY day in ionizing radiation, from several sources. deal with it.
Hi Ditto,
There are a few ‘schools of thought’ about exposure to ionizing radiation. One says, conservatively, that ‘any exposure is bad’. This based on liability to workers.
Another ‘school’ says that small exposures provoke the cells to repair and become more ‘resistant’.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Meaning that small, chronic exposures are not meaningful in either good nor bad.
That's the linear exposure model. It says that we know if one person took 100 aspirin tablets he would die, therefore, if 100 people each take 1 aspirin tablet, one of them will die.
