Seriously. It’s sad that “compassionate conservative” has to mean that one spends on everything to seem compassionate... actually it kinda sounds like a liberal... hmmm.

The Senate passed by a vote of 80-16 a $48 billion measure called President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) last week to fight AIDS worldwide.

I haven't read the legislation; I find THOMAS to be a pain in the neck. But what type of "fight" are we buying with 48 billion dollars, (which just happens to be one-tenth of the newly-released deficit figures)?

Is it to provide education to Africans who don't know how AIDS is contracted? Is it to provide medicine for those who've already contracted AIDS? Or, as the article states, is the money being used to "advance freedom" in order to "defeat the forces of violent extremism by offering a more hopeful vision of freedom"?

"And as this vision takes hold in more nations around the world, America will be safer here at home."

Sounds like bribe money to me.

"You keep your people in check and you'll keep receiving checks."
