A rookie cop - the son of a highly respected New York City detective - has been stripped of his badge and gun after being caught on video viciously attacking a bicyclist who was part of a Times Square demonstration. '
The startling YouTube video shows Officer Patrick Pogan, 22, apparently setting his sights on - and then tackling - a bicyclist as he pedaled along Seventh Avenue as part of last Friday's controversial Critical Mass ride.
Christopher Long, 29, was among a throng of riders as he whizzed toward the corner of West 46th Street at 9:30 p.m. and appeared to try and swerve away from the officer.
But the video shows Pogan pick up his pace as he stares down Long before shoving the cyclist, slamming him to the pavement.
To the dismay of stunned pedestrians, Long, who was not wearing a helmet, hurtles several feet through the air as he flips off the bicycle and lands on the curb.

The cop lunged at a random guy and sent him flying through the air into the cement. He did not ask him to stop, and even if he muttered it without moving his mouth (ventriloquist cop!) he didn't give the "perp" anytime to respond. He ran at him and slammed him.
Then he LIED in his signed police report, claiming the guy intentionally rammed him and knocked him down (he never goes down at all, unlike bike criminal.)
So you're totally OK with unwarranted excessive violence and totally fabricated police reports in order to put an end to the scourge of rogue bicyclists.
Why not just shoot them?
I don’t pity the cyclist- I actually feel bad for the police who are put into this situation by these idiot cyclists.
Yes the cyclist got what he deserved,... but it is STILL NOT RIGHT FOR COPS TO TAKE THE LAW INTO HIS OWN HANDS AND HE AS NOW RUINED HIS CARREER (weeks into the job)
What the heck is wrong with you people here today????
Gee, apparently so. Thank goodness I have someone like you to point it out. How can I thank you?
illegal lane change....
And no I havent watched the clip.
And yet you still insist on arguing in defense of the cops actions?!
So you really dont care what the video shows, the cop is right.
Thats idiotic and laughable. Serf.
If its the Cop, vs some poor mother in her minivan running over the idiot as he cuts her off, then yea, I prefer by the cop.
I agree, the cop shouldn’t have done it, the law abiding folks of the city should have just placed a nice rope across the road and when this pack of jackasses came barrelling down the road illegally, pulled it taught and watch the show. Then called the cops and EMS to clean up the mess.
then you need to watch the video...
Ask yourself this- if you ran a red light and the officer approached your car and punched you- would that be OK?
this may be a rookie mistake or the cop may think he can take the law into his own hands (if he has any brains he will claim the first)
but the cop is screwed for this. the idiot cyclists can score a victory in that they provoked a cop into an illegal action
I wen t through poolice training in the air force- they STRESS not losing it or getting provoked into actions like this. Imagine if all the cops there just started brawling with the bikers?
As fun as that would be to watch- that is not the kind of police force you want
that actually would have been a good tactic for the police to use
The traffic is uniformly stopped at the intersection because of the hundreds of bikes going through.
Clearly the cyclists are pains in the asses causing this disruption, but even so, drivers cannot swerve or almost crash their cars when their cars are not moving. Just another thing the cop made up.
NOW you finally see the point.
The cop was provoked into an act that will cost him his job
They are supposed to be trained not to lose it that way
Score one for the cyclists
also watch the other cop in the video- you can tell he is going “oh sh*t...”
so...um...of course the wise solution to enforce traffic infractions by bicyclists is to mow them down with a machine gun.
riiight
Can't wait to hear how you propose to solve playground cheating at hopscotch by the kindergarden children ...napalm, or frag-grenades, perhaps?
Why would you chose to believe a Leftist, part of a movement to overthrow the capitalistic system we use, over a policeman.
Ill take the cop.
I think that the population should learn from the improper procedure of the cop. The pedestrians should drop by the grocery store and buy plain mop handles.
A few times with mop handles in the spokes would slow down this mass intimidation campaign.
Assumption?
What planet are you from, dude? Is English your first language?
I notice you didn’t post the entire complaint, leaving out the part where the Leftist biker is accused of doing just what I speculated he was doing..............Hmmmm
Also, watching the video, I see that the Leftist biker was trying to run from BOTH cops.
Also, the Leftist biker words were “You are pawns in the game, I’m gonna have your job.” Typical Leftist drivel.
He may very well be right in that prediction, the Left often uses the willing DBM to win in these types of situation, but the society will lose if he wins.
You do that.
I'm going to continue to believe my own lying eyes.
There, fixed it for you.
If their sole stated purpose is to irritate and inconvenience everyone else on a regular schedule, sure.
Next juvenile question?
Hmmmmm........... maybe I didn't include it for the same reason that you didn't include it - you can't cut and paste from that police report and I didn't feel like typing it.
For the last time, the cars in the video were all clearly stopped at the intersection, but I guess that doesn't prove that no car within sight of the cop couldn't have been moving, somehow motoring along through gridlocked Times Square without a care in the world, save this individual bicycling rebel. So I can't prove he was lying about that part. You can't prove he was telling the truth, so it's a draw.
On the his statements that we can conclusively test him for truthfullness, he fails miserably. But you choose to believe him anyway.
Like when he says the guy rammed him intentionally causing him to fall. Just because it didn't happen doesn't mean the cop's a liar. Its true because he told you its true. Good for you!
