TERMED a "learning" trip, Sen. Barack Obama's eight- day tour of eight nations in the Middle East and Europe turned out to be little more than a series of photo ops to enhance his international credentials.

"He was not interested in what we had to say."
In private, though, Iraqi officials admit that Obama's analysis is "way off the mark." Without the surge, the Sunni tribes wouldn't have switched sides to help flush out al Qaeda.
"He gave us the impression that the last thing he wanted was for Iraq to look anything like a success for the United States," a senior Iraqi official told me. "As far as he is concerned, this is Bush's war and must end in lack of success, if not actual defeat."

WOW. The more his tour is evaluated, the less effective it was for the Obambi. Some pretty alarming statements in this article.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

For some reason, this song keeps running through my mind when I think about the Obama’s trip:
Bonjour, bonjour
The Tubes World Tour
A mighty important crusade
Tres chouette mi amore
The Tubes World Tour
We’ll be leavin’ as soon as we’re paid
It’s all about the “O”...
I have found Taheri to be credible and objective.
The Iraqis totally get it.
I've always found him very credible, he has great sources and insight pertaining to the Middle East. He is regularly more correct in his analysis of complicated issues than all the "media experts" combined.
Taheri is on my “must read” list. Always insightful.
From Wiki: "Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by U.S. TV critics and fans to denote the point in a TV or movie series at which the characters or plot veer into a ridiculous, out-of-the-ordinary storyline. Shows that have "jumped the shark" are typically deemed to have passed their peak, since they have undergone too many changes to retain their original appeal, and after this point critical fans often sense a noticeable decline in the show's quality."
"The term is an allusion to a scene in a 1977 episode of the TV series Happy Days when the popular character Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli literally jumps over a shark while water skiing. The scene was considered so preposterous that many believed it to be an attempt at reviving the declining ratings of the flagging show. Ironically, not only was Happy Days reflecting the superstardom of real-life shark-jumper Evel Knievel in the episode .."

Why does anyone ever refer to WikiPedia as a source for anything?
Because it is fun, and the easiest place to find the generic background of the expression “jump the shark”. In this case, it didn’t need iron-clad, impeccable and definitive research. Otherwise, why would anyone ever read Free Republic?
Posting the wiki definition of “jumping the shark” has jumped the shark.
Can you site the definition of “jump the shark”, please?
I have seen you making the same post over now for over two weeks. Is your needle stuck?
Obama has said, plain and clear, that he wants the US to fail in Iraq. A potential president who wants his own country to FAIL ..... just let that thought sit and fester for a while. Obama needs to be flat out rejected in November by the people of this nation.
