LeBron James Donated $20K to Barack Obama's Campaign

$20,000 (that would be twenty thousand dollars) is not that much to LeBron James. He makes slightly more money than that. However, when you're talking about it as amount that's being given away to a cause, suddenly it becomes much more substantial.

For instance, let's say that cause is not so hypothetically Barack Obama's campaign fund. Which it was/is.

Entertainers who donated $28,500 to the committees include producers Frederick W. Field and Steven Bochco and his wife, Dayna, and actors Samuel L. Jackson and Edward Norton.

NBA star LeBron James donated $20,000.

In several instances, couples doubled their donations. Professional poker player Phil Ivey and his wife, Luciaetta, for example, each gave $33,100 to the Obama Victory Committee.

I think the 20k (emphasis mine) is a pretty interesting figure for a pretty interesting athlete, given the nature of this coming election.

It would seem far to bizarre for Bron to be aligned with John McCain, although I kind of feel like his corporate attitude gives off a bit of Republican natured behavior.

And of course, not to trivialize 20 large, because Lord knows that is a lot of money (like 40 posts worth here), but relative to what LeBron makes it's not a ton. Which makes me wonder about his dedication to Barack's campaign.

On the other hand, as Clay Travis pointed out, having athletes actually flash their political beliefs through public financial endorsements is a nice growing trend in America, so maybe I shouldn't be so cynical.

I pretty much gave up on the NBA when Stockton and Malone retired.

No, he’s just a typical Black person. He sees a chance to be a part of history, no matter how corrupt it is.

He’s barely voting age, and I bet he knows zilch about politics.

Agreed! That was a nice team to watch. I was partial to the Dr J. Sixer’s myself...until Sir Charles came along that is.

You would think Phil Ivey whould know a bad bet when he see’s one. His Obama bet is like going all in pre flop with a 7 - 2 off suit in first position. Good luck there Phil.

What happened to the $2.3K limit?

Tall black athletes have an exemption.

Maybe he thinks this will make up for him wearing a yankees cap.

He’ll be in NYC as soon as he can.

What little I ever cared about in Pro Basketball went away in the mid 80's and the only team I even liked happened to be the Lakers.

LeBron no doubt has stashed his millions of $s in off-shore accounts... to protect them from the prying hands of the IRS (only to get worse if B.H.O. attains higher office).

I notice “Steven Bochco and his wife, Dayna”. Last I had heard he was married to Barbara Bosson, the supremely annoying “Fay Furillo” on Hill Street Blues.

Looking it up I see they were divorced in 1997. Bosson’s last screen credit is likewise 1997.

Dayna is now head of Steven Bochco Productions and was Producer of the Commander in Chief woman president TV series.

He was once cited in high school for accepting perks like working out with Michael Jordan’s trainer when he hurt his ankle and new cars, old jerseys, and cash kickbacks. It doesn’t surprise me that he’s doing this.
